The 10 Best VR Games for Baby Boomers

The 10 Best VR Games for Baby Boomers

In a previous post, I discussed why Baby Boomers are the sleeper audience for virtual reality. I claimed that there was plenty of content already out there, so here's a list to back that up.

  • Walkabout Mini Golf: This game is amazing for easy social VR. You can quickly set up a game with 5 friends and family members all around the world, plus the golf is easy and intuitive, there's loads of content, and everyone will get distracted trying to find the cute hidden ball on each hole.
  • ForeVR Bowl: Similar to Walkabout Mini Golf, ForeVR Bowl offers up easy family multiplayer, intuitive controls, and a polished, delightful experience.
  • Thrill of the Fight: While it does look a little dated, this one offers a real workout that can get anyone sweating, plus some compelling boxing mechanics to keep things interesting gameplay-wise.
  • Audica: Everyone is going to get Beat Saber (and they should, it's great), but I actually prefer Harmonix's Audica as a general rhythm-game experience. It's a bit less aerobic, but the dual gunplay is a satisfying sensory delight, and more accessible than the fan-favorite Pistol Whip.
  • Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator: Cute, funny, and very intuitive gameplay. For extra laughs, cast to a Chromecast so everyone in the room can follow along.
  • Moss: One of the top examples of third-person VR, this diorama-style mouse adventure is adorable, compelling, and has interesting puzzles and exciting swordplay.
  • Ocean Rift: A beautiful, awe-inspiring experience of getting up close with a variety of ocean creatures (although there's some controversy around the overly-aggressive great white sharks).
  • I Expect You To Die: Live your inner-Bond through a series of devious escape rooms, within a spy theme and wonderfully narrated by Anthony Daniels (yes, C-3PO himself!).
  • Color Space: A coloring "book" of a full 3D world. Given the popularity of coloring book apps, this one could and should be huge with the Gen X and Baby Boomer market (hey, Lighthaus, consider going F2P and selling worlds to make a lot more money if Baby Boomers get on board).
  • Tetris Effect: Tetris in VR? Absolutely. While still the familiar 2D Tetris (plus some additional modes, including a campaign), it has been infused with music and dancing visuals that give the classic a whole new life.

Think I missed one? Let me know, I'd love to hear from you!
